Wired glass is a float glass into which a square or diagonal wire mesh is embedded during the manufacturing process. At 7 mm, wired glass offers the proven standard thickness for this classic safety glass; the embedded metal mesh ensures that the pane is held together in the event of breakage and that shards adhere to the mesh, which prevents dangerous splinters from falling out. It is traditionally used where fire protection, burglary protection, or increased safety requirements are needed, such as in roof glazing, door vision panels, stairwells, and commercial buildings. Available with cut edges, made to measure.

What is wired glass and how is it manufactured?
What is wired glass and how is it manufactured?
Wired glass is a float glass into which a square or diagonal wire mesh is embedded during the manufacturing process. The metal mesh holds the pane together in the event of breakage; shards adhere to the mesh and do not fall out. Available from Christian Adamer GmbH in 7 mm thickness with cut edges, as a custom-made product.
Is wired glass a safety glass?
Is wired glass a safety glass?
Wired glass is not safety glass in the sense of tempered or laminated safety glass; it breaks into sharp shards like standard float glass, but the embedded wire mesh prevents these shards from falling out. It therefore provides mechanical splinter protection and is traditionally used for fire protection and burglary prevention applications, but it is not comparable to tempered safety glass according to DIN EN 12150.
What is wired glass used for?
What is wired glass used for?
Wired glass is traditionally used for roof glazing, vision panels in doors, stairwells, and commercial buildings—wherever fire protection, burglar resistance, or increased safety requirements are needed. The embedded wire mesh prevents shards from falling out in the event of breakage or exposure to fire.
What is the difference between wired glass and tempered safety glass (ESG) at Adamer?
What is the difference between wired glass and tempered safety glass (ESG) at Adamer?
ESG shatters into small, blunt granules upon breakage and offers thermal toughening in accordance with DIN EN 12150. Wired glass breaks into sharp shards, which are, however, held together by the wire mesh. ESG is the more modern safety glass solution, while wired glass from Christian Adamer GmbH is preferred where fire protection or traditional building regulations require its installation.
