What is extra-clear float glass and why does it have no green tint?
What is extra-clear float glass and why does it have no green tint?
Extra-clear float glass is a variant of classic float glass in which the iron content in the glass composition is reduced. This eliminates the typical green tint of standard float glass and results in crystal-clear, color-neutral glass. Manufactured by Christian Adamer GmbH in Germany, available in thicknesses from 1 mm to 4 mm.
When should I choose extra-clear float glass instead of standard float glass?
When should I choose extra-clear float glass instead of standard float glass?
Extra-clear float glass is the right choice when color neutrality is crucial, e.g., for white furniture, light-colored display cases, picture frames, stacked glass layers, or anywhere the green tint of standard glass is distracting. The thicker the glass, the more visible the green tint in standard float glass; the difference is distinct from approximately 4 mm.
In what thicknesses is extra-clear float glass available at Adamer?
In what thicknesses is extra-clear float glass available at Adamer?
Extra-clear float glass is available from Christian Adamer GmbH in particularly thin versions: 1 mm, 1.1 mm, 1.3 mm, 3 mm, and 4 mm, with cut edges, as custom-made products. The availability of very thin thicknesses makes it particularly suitable for frames, display cases, and watch cases.
Is extra-clear float glass a safety glass?
Is extra-clear float glass a safety glass?
No. Extra-white float glass is not thermally toughened and breaks into sharp shards. For safety-relevant applications, we recommend extra-white toughened safety glass (ESG) from Christian Adamer GmbH, which combines the same color-neutral appearance with safety properties according to DIN EN 12150.
