Safety glass is used wherever glass must meet particularly high requirements for stability, protection, and security. It reduces the risk of injury and reliably protects both people and property.
Typical areas of application for safety glass include doors, windows, shower enclosures, railings, facades, and glass roofs. Safety glass is also indispensable in the automotive industry, for example in windshields and side windows. Depending on the application, tempered safety glass (TSG) or laminated safety glass (LSG) is used.
The great advantage of safety glass lies in its breakage behavior: when broken, TSG shatters into small, blunt particles, while LSG is held together by an interlayer. This prevents serious injuries and hinders break-ins. Safety glass is therefore necessary wherever glass protects people or is itself exposed to increased stress.
